1) GeTS Links ASEAN and China with Cross Border Trade Blockchain
With the ultimate vision of linking the ASEAN region with China’s Digital Silk Road, a new cross-border blockchain for trade has been launched by Global eTrade Services (GeTS), a subsidiary of Singapore-based e-government group CrimsonLogic.
According to a press release Wednesday, the Open Trade Blockchain (OTB) will increase efficiency, security and transparency for global trade, providing the region’s first cross-border blockchain platform that is aligned with China’s Belt Road Initiative (BRI) and the Southern Transport Corridor.
The system is run by trusted nodes, hosted by whitelisted, accredited trade compliance companies. The OTB enhances the security of trade-related documents, such as Certificates of Origin and commercial invoices, and enhances transparency and trust between shippers, freight-forwarders and their customers.
2) IAB Tech Lab Lifts Veil on Digital Advertising Potential
A pilot program is underway to get beyond the hype of Blockchain applications in digital advertising and demonstrate the value of the technology. According to a press release, Tuesday, the initiative, by the IAB Technology Laboratory Blockchain Working Group, will provide a real-world mechanism for testing blockchain-based products and services, with a goal of applying learnings to develop an industry whitepaper outlining best practices and ultimately to develop standards to support the application of the technology.
Featured among the working group are FusionSeven, Kochava Labs, Lucidity, and MetaX. Their pilots will also encompass supply chain partners including advertisers, agencies, publishers, and technology vendors.
“We’re dedicated to understanding advertisers’ and publishers’ needs and exploring emerging and established technologies that can solve real problems in digital advertising – in support of a clean, scalable, and efficient ecosystem,” said Dennis Buchheim, Senior Vice President and General Manager, IAB Tech Lab, in the statement. “The Blockchain Working Group, which has over 150 member companies, is at the forefront of exploring industry standards and use cases for blockchain in digital advertising, and we’re looking forward to even more forward-thinking brands and key players joining the conversation.”
3) Boeing Brings In SparkCognition For Help Developing UAV Management Systems
Boeing announced on Tuesday that the company will collaborate with AI technology leader SparkCognition to deliver unmanned aircraft traffic management systems. Artificial intelligence and blockchain technology will be used to track unmanned aerial vehicle in flight and on the ground while allocating appropriate corridors for traffic routing to ensure safe, effective transportation. The program will also aim to provide a standardized development interface for package delivery, industrial inspections, and other commercial applications. Boeing HorizonX Ventures previously invested in SparkCognition for support developing an analytics platform for the reliability of data technology.
4) SophiaTX and ArkTree Partner to Promote Blockchain in South Africa
The Swiss-based blockchain company SophiaTX and the South African tech company ArkTree announced a partnership on Wednesday that they say will promote blockchain in South Africa.
According to the announcement, ArkTree will be SophiaTX’s sole reseller, bringing blockchain technology to its clients in the “enterprise resource planning” domain.
“The experience in enterprise-grade information systems combined with the ability to show clients how systems can be integrated with appropriate blockchain solutions to enhance the business value chain, offers these two companies solid foundation in their partnership decision,” said ArkTree Managing Director Sean Martin.
5) Stratis Announces New Blockchain Identity App
The London-based blockchain company Stratis announced on Thursday that its Stratis Identity mobile application is available to download for iOS devices.
According to the announcement, the free Stratis app allows users to manage their identity and imprint it upon the Stratis blockchain, allowing for secure and verifiable sharing experiences without compromising sensitive personal data. Stratis Identity will also open up the potential for enterprises to securely manage customer identities using cloud-based or internet login services, Stratis stated.
Stratis is a modular platform designed to make blockchain easy, providing simple and affordable end-to-end solutions for development, testing and deployment of native C# blockchain applications (dApps) on the .Net framework.
